Aims of The Nutritional Therapy Council
As the Professional Standards Council for Nutritional Therapy, the NTC aims to:
- Set standards of training and education that meet the National Occupational Standards for Nutritional Therapy, and to keep those updated as necessary
- Accredit courses in Nutritional Therapy that meet the Core Curriculum and National Occupational Standards
- Publish the names and relevant details of all training providers whose courses have been accredited
- Provide guidance on education and training issues to training providers
- Hold an archive register of those practitioners who were assessed to meet the 2003 National Occupational Standards and were registered with the NTC until it ceased its regulatory duties
- Establish a register of Teachers and Researchers working in the domain of nutritional therapy
- Set standards for post-graduate competency in specialist areas of practice including Nutrigenetic counselling
- Establish registers of specialist practitioners including Nutrigenetic Counsellors
- Set processes for Return to Practice assessment
- Work with other organisations to improve professional practice in nutritional therapy
